Unified? Uncomfortable

The tenth day has come! Honestly I can not put into words how happy I am to be finished with this body intervention. I can definitely say that I have learnt a thing or two about how people perceive students as well as how I perceive students.
It is important to note that I loved high school and I am more then proud to wear the uniform but I am so excited to wake up tomorrow and not have to put it on. Wearing a school uniform is meant to give a student a sense of pride and belonging. The uniform also creates an important identity for the school. The aim is to make sure students look 'the same'.
After two years of expressing my individuality through my hair, make up and clothing, going back to wearing a standardised uniform made me feel like I lost a little bit of who I was on the outside. For ten days I just looked like a student, like every other student. I pride myself on being who I am and like to express my individuality by the way I dress. Loosing this part of me made me feel very uncomfortable and unhappy in my appearance.
People did not seem interested to get to know the person behind the uniform.
