Was That Me?

I have always looked a little older then I am. When I was 14 and 15 I was frequently mistaken for the shop assistant in shops and was often told that I looked a good couple of years older then I was. This project has made me question how I was treated as a student when I really was a student. I honestly don't remember being treated any differently. I put this down to looking a bit older then I was at the time. I have spoken to people my age who say they are still treated like 'students'. They put it down to still looking very young and having 'baby-faces'.
Listening to their stories makes me feel a little guilty for not experiencing something that they go through every day and that I should have gone through. It is not fair that society is so quick to judge people based on how old they look and treat them differently according to this age.
Ageism is not a new concept. It usually refers to a prejudice or discrimination against older people but in this case it refers to a prejudice based on age in general.
