Really?

My brother and I get along pretty well. We are three years a part which makes him 17 at the moment and in grade 11. I thought I should take this opportunity to chat to him about how he thinks 'adults' view his peers both in and out of uniform. One place he feels that he is treated differently is at restaurants. He said that whether he was in or out of uniform, he was treated like a 'child'. Waiters aren't as diligent when it comes to serving him and his friends and tend to ignore their table. I remember this happening when I was around his age to. Waiters tend to assume that students don't have much money and aren't going to tip them and therefore it is acceptable to overlook them. My brother explained how this makes him uncomfortable as he feels he is being treated differently and therefore is 'out'.
I don't think 'adults' know how much students pick up on their prejudgements. By treating students in a 'different' way, they make students feel uncomfortable and sometimes unwelcome.
